I would recommend you to try Microsoft Office Live Small Business, a free service from Microsoft (a big brand). It’s targeted at small companies, but works very well for personal sites, fan sites, hobbies, non-profits, sports clubs, etc. It has a free, easy to use online web designer tool which allows you to create a website without the need to know how to do HTML/CSS coding. Currently, Microsoft is offering a free domain name (i.e. yourdomain.com) for the first year with Office Live (this is optional, as you can use a free subdomain provided by Office Live). It is much better than Geocities and has no annoying banner ads or popups. Try it out:
